Our people are an extended team of safari specialists with an incredible array of skills. Our core members are award-winners and trail-blazers in their own right. Our core members

Sharon Gilbert-Rivett


Sharon is an award-winning travel, tourism and conservation writer, journalist and filmmaker who has worked in the tourism industry for more than three decades, specialising in the safari sector. She has also been a successful tour operator and industry representative, serving on the Exco of the Southern Africa Tourism Services Association (SATSA) as the chairperson of its Gauteng chapter.


A consummate wordsmith, communications, marketing and brand specialist, Sharon has worked with some of the major names in the safari industry and has visited more than 200 lodges and camps throughout sub-Saharan Africa in her role as a journalist, travel writer, safari expert, consultant and explorer.

Luke van Wyk


An all-rounder when it comes to anything to do with computers, Luke is a talented website designer and developer, lending his creative and technical expertise to some pretty impressive sites since The Safari Collective was launched.


Intimate with the back end of development and the intricate optimisation of website content as well as management and maintenance of websites, Luke also has a great eye for clever and often pioneering design and is an absolute perfectionist.


He works closely with our clients to help them understand the basics of content management systems, training them on a needs basis.

Luke van Wyk
